The economy of the city is based on activities such as mercantile, service, tourism, industrial and port.

This is how you can see a wide variety of purchase and sale of products, whether in premises within malls, in the "bahía"; or on the streets, also the acquisition of different services by the population; specific businesses that take advantage of the existence of beautiful places in the city to obtain profits through the sale of local products to the tourists who visit them; the development of industrial areas through the existence of factories in certain sectors of the city; and, the income obtained by the loading and unloading of containers in the port.
